NO PODIUM THE SOURCE OF PETE’S PISSINESS

Forget about Pete Carroll being upset at Mark Sanchez for his decision to skip his fifth-year senior season. Forget about that decision being the root cause of his reportedly boorish behavior yesterday afternoon at the Sanchez press conference. That was simply not the case. It went much, much deeper than that. No, rather, the USC head coach was simply miffed at a key piece of office equipment missing from the proceedings."I was agitated because we didn’t have a freakin’ podium,” Carroll was quoted as saying in this morning’s Los Angeles Daily News. “They were supposed to have a freakin’ podium. I wasn’t mad at Mark."A-freakin'-men, Pete. Who wouldn’t be that upset over something as monumental as a missing podium? What kind of barbarians do something like that, hold a press conference without something higher than a table to lean on?The nerve of some people. What is this, The Middle Ages? All I know is, Carroll makes a very valid point about Sanchez’s decision, but the message is getting lost in the reports of his actions.Personally, I happen to agree with his stance. Personally, I agree that Sanchez could’ve used another year of seasoning and is making a mistake. Personally, though, to display it in such a public manner is an embarrassment to a great college coach and a tradition-rich University. Some feelings are better left in private and not displayed so boorishly in a public venue. This is one of ‘em.
