Ole Miss LB tweets he’s leaving Rebels

With Ole Miss set to kick off spring practice in a couple of weeks, the Rebels will apparently be without -- for good -- a player who may have been able to make an impact on the defensive side of the ball.

In a tweet posted to his Twitter account, linebacker Ralph Williams said that he will not be returning to the Rebels football program in 2013. No reason was given for what is apparently a decision to transfer out.

“I will like to thank Coach (Hugh) Freeze and Rebel Nation for all they have done. It’s hard to say but I will not be playing for Ole Miss Next year,” Williams’ tweet read.

Ole Miss has declined to address Williams’ status for spring practice and beyond, although he’s still listed on the official website’s online roster.

Over the past two seasons, Williams played in 22 games. While he was credited with 53 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss, just four of the former and 1.5 of the latter came in 2012.

Williams was a three-star member of Ole Miss’ 2010 recruiting class.
