After leading the nation in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in a breakout season, it’s very likely there would be no shortage of NFL teams scrambling to select Justin Blackmon if he makes himself available for the next NFL draft.
At least publicly, though, the Oklahoma State wide receiver isn’t saying which direction his football path will take after the Cowboys’ bowl game.
Asked today whether he will return for another season in Stillwater, Blackmon was non-committal.
“I haven’t thought about it at all,” Blackmon said according to Tulsa World. “That’s something I have to look forward to. Right now I’m just focusing on the Alamo Bowl and getting ready for the game.”
As a redshirt sophomore, Blackmon could conceivably return for two more seasons, although that would appear to be the longest of long shots.
If he hasn’t already, Blackmon will file paperwork with the NFL’s draft advisory committee and receive an evaluation as to where he may fall in April. What will be interesting when it comes to Blackmon is how much his size -- he’s listed at 6-1, 205 pounds -- will impact his evaluation for the next level.
Eligible players must officially declare their intentions for the NFL draft by Jan. 14.
