Pair of Aggies arrested on misdemeanor charges

Texas A&M defensive lineman Isaiah Golden and linebacker Darian Claiborne were arrested over the weekend and each charged with a misdemeanor, according to the Bryan Eagle. Golden was arrested on a misdemeanor marijuana charge while Claiborne was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Five-star wide receiver commit Speedy Noil was in the car with Golden and Claiborne, but was not arrested. A snippet from the Eagle:

Claiborne began to protest as the officer placed Golden under arrest, saying “this was going to ruin the Defendant’s college football career,” according to the report.

After Golden’s arrest, the officer had Niles and Noil exit the vehicle, the report said. Officers searched the car and found a bottle of Paul Masson Brandy that was 3/4 full, the report stated. It was not clear where or how the bottle of brandy was obtained because all four occupants are younger than 21, the report said. The arresting officer said in the report that Claiborne poured the alcohol onto the ground and that the action was recorded by his on-board video camera in his patrol car.

Claiborne, who was arrested in December for possession of marijuana and ADHD medicine, apparently triggered his disorderly conduct arrest by yelling “water in it” loud enough to violate a county noise ordinance. He posted $300 bail and was released; Golden posted $2,000 bail and was released.

Golden started six games for Texas A&M in his freshman year last season, while Claiborne started nine games and was named to the SEC All-Freshman team.
