Arizona State vs. No. 8 Boise State
Dec. 22, 8 p.m. ET, ESPN
At Whitney, Nev.
After a November that saw them lose to UCLA, Washington State, Arizona and California, what makes anyone think that the Sun Devils can come anywhere close to ruining the Broncos’ holidays?
For its part, Boise State hates the fact that it’s anywhere near a team like Arizona State, which hasn’t been to a bowl game since 2007 and hasn’t won one since 2005.
A field goal away from a BCS berth and possibly playing for the mythical national championship, the Broncos are instead locking horns with a team that won only once in its last six games (layup at home versus Colorado).
We know that Chris Peterson is tired of this sort of thing. It remains to be seen how his players feel about it this year. Perhaps the other things that Las Vegas has to offer will be more interesting to them than football.
But with Kellen Moore, the winningest quarterback in college football history, at the controls it’s just not possible that the Broncos slip and fall, especially if ASU linebacker Vontaze Burfict isn’t staring him down.
Opening point spread: Boise State by 11 1/2
The pick: Boise State 42-27
