Add another school to the list of programs choosing to adopt an alternate gray uniform in college football. Purdue is getting in on the fashion trend, which they showed off Friday morning on Twitter with a look at the new alternate uniform design by Nike.
The new alternate look for the Boilermakers features gray pants, a gray uniform and a gray helmet. The helmet is accented by the train track stripe that narrows toward the back of the helmet. By going all in with gray -- anthracite gray to be precise -- Purdue is lacking in black and gold, the school’s signature colors. At least this is just an alternate look.Introducing our alternate anthracite gray uniform! S/O to our model @nino9brown #BoilerUp pic.twitter.com/8QSKSyG47y

Purdue is not the first Big Ten team to go with alternate gray as a uniform option. Illinois introduced a Galloping Ghost uniform last season, designed to honor Red Grange, whose Galloping Ghost nickname was inspired by the late great sportswriter Grantland Rice. Northwestern has worn gray as well, although with a Patriotic theme attached to it.
What do you think about Purdue’s new alternate gray uniform? On a related note, have you seen TCU’s new frog-skin uniforms? The Horned Frogs also have an alternate gray uniform coming in 2015. Feel free to leave your fashion reviews in the comments.
