Razorbacks lose RB Green to ACL tear

Probably for the first time in CFT’s short history we have back-to-back posts where the topic is Arkansas football. Unfortunately, neither of the stories are even remotely positive in nature.

In a release issued by the school Friday afternoon, it was announced that running back Broderick Green has a torn ACL in his left knee and is expected to miss the entire 2011 season. Green suffered the injury during practice Wednesday.

“Broderick had been doing a great job this spring and had been working extremely hard,” said head coach Bobby Petrino in a statement. “Although this is unfortunate for him, I know Broderick will focus during the recovery process. Our trainers and medical staff are among the best in the country and will assist him in overcoming the injury.”

Green, who is a senior but would likely be eligible to receive a sixth year of eligibility should he apply for a waiver, has appeared in 26 games as a Razorback with five starts after transferring from USC following the 2008 season.

During his collegiate career, he has had 229 carries for 925 yards and 17 touchdowns. In 2010, he appeared in all 13 games with two starts. He finished the year with 365 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.
