Report: Bill Clark to be named new UAB coach

UAB was expected to dip into the FCS ranks to fill its head coaching vacancy and that’s exactly what it did.

Jacksonville State’s Bill Clark will become the new head coach at UAB, according to a report from AL.com on Tuesday.

Clark has already resigned at JSU and signed a contract with the Blazers. A press conference to introduce Clark will come on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Clark spent just one year at Jacksonville State, but he led the Gamecocks to an 11-4 record and an FCS quarterfinal appearance. Along the way, his squad set 49 school records, 13 OVC records and three NCAA records during the 2013 season.

Prior to JSU, Clark was the defensive coordinator at South Alabama.
