Report: Ducks’ Byron Marshall could be lost for season with injury

It appears a game wasn’t the only thing Oregon lost Saturday night.

In the second half of UO’s 62-20 woodshedding at the hands of Utah, Byron Marshall went down with a lower-leg injury and didn’t return. The wide receiver wasn’t included on the depth chart leading into this Saturday’s game against Colorado, causing some to speculate that the injury could indeed be as serious as has been rumored.

One source confirmed to Aaron Fentress of CSNNW.com that Marshall is done for the season, while another stated he won’t be playing anytime soon. It’s believed Marshall underwent a surgical procedure Tuesday, although the exact nature of the procedure is unclear.

The Ducks have yet to address Marshall’s status moving forward.

After leading the team in receptions a year ago, Marshall has just nine catches for 121 yards in four games, totals that are tied for third and fourth on the team, respectively. The loss of Marshall wouldn’t just impact the Ducks’ passing game as he’s tops in the Pac-12 and 18th in the country averaging 27.5 yards per kick return.
