On the verge of what would be his second season with Temple, quarterback-turned-H-back-turned running back Kevin Newsome will instead call it a career. Reportedly.
Philly.com reports that Newsome, who will graduate from the school this summer, will not play for the Owls this fall.
Newsome carried the ball five times for 55 yards last year in a reserve quarterback role. The former Penn State quarterback was able to play for the Owls immediately in 2012 after spending a year away from football and initially moved to H-back this spring.
Newsome was a touted four-star member of the Nittany Lions’ 2009 recruiting class, rated as the No. 4 dual-threat QB in the country. During his two years in Happy Valley, he played in 15 games and attempted just 24 passes as he fell behind Rob Bolden and then Matt McGloin in PSU’s QB pecking order.
