Report: Rams OC Brian Schottenheimer latest to interview for Vandy job

As first reported by 247 Sports, Vanderbilt will interview St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer for its head coaching position on Wednesday. Multiple outlets have since confirmed the interview.

The report comes a day after Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton surfaced as a candidate for the Vanderbilt gig (Hamilton will interview for the job Thursday, per CBS Sports’ Bruce Feldman). Stanford defensive coordinator Derek Mason is also reportedly on Vanderbilt’s “to interview” list.

One name not on Vanderbilt’s list: Louisiana-Lafayette coach Mark Hudspeth, according to CBS Sports’ Jeremy Fowler.

The 40-year-old Schottenheimer has only coached two years at the college level, spending single seasons at Syracuse and USC in 1999 and 2000, respectively.
