Yesterday speculation was swirling that Noel Mazzone had all but decided to leave UCLA to take over Texas A&M’s offense, although the offensive coordinator’s current boss denied that it was a done deal.
Less than 24 hours later, it appears to be a done deal, at least according to ESPN.com‘s Joe Schad and FOXSports.com’s Bruce Feldman.

In a radio interview Thursday, UCLA head coach Jim Mora allowed that Mazzone “may [leave for A&M], but he may not.” Mora also added that he would hope that something was decided, one way or the other, by the end of the day yesterday. Mazzone, who met with A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin in College Station, received an offer from the Aggies but wanted to mull over a decision first.
Mazzone has spent the past four seasons as the Bruins’ coordinator. He will replace Jake Spavital, with whom the football program “parted ways” less than a week ago.
Taylor Mazzone, the new A&M coordinator’s son, had been the Bruins quarterbacks coach. There’s no word on what his specific job would be with the Aggies.
