Rutgers has now picked up their third assistant coach from Pittsburgh since the resignation of former coach Dave Wannstedt with the hiring of tight ends coach Brian Angelichio.
Angelichio joins former Pitt coaches Frank Cignetti, Jr. and Jeff Hafley.
“Brian is a great fit for our football family,” said Greg Schiano in a statement released by Rutgers. “He has a bright offensive mind and has demonstrated an excellent ability to recruit and develop players, something that is a staple of our program.”
Angelichio has put two tight ends into the NFL from his days at Pitt: Nate Byham (San Francisco 49ers) and Dorin Dickerson (Houston Texans). Angelichio also acted as Pitt’s offensive coordinator in their BBVA Compass Bowl win over Kentucky.
