Five and a half years after pledging a verbal commitment to Urban Meyer, Chase Hounshell will finally get a chance to play for him.
Hounshell announced Monday he’ll play his sixth and final season of college eligibility at Ohio State, leaving Notre Dame after five years in South Bend.I can’t thank ND enough but I am excited to announce I will be transferring to THE Ohio State University! Go Bucks! pic.twitter.com/cVR5YQ2P3t

A native of Kirkland, Ohio, Hounshell was rated as a three-star offensive lineman in 2011’s recruiting class. He verbally committed to Florida before the 2010 season, but after Meyer left Gainesville, Hounshell flipped to Notre Dame. He played sporadically as a defensive end from 2011-2014 (and missed all but one game in 2012 and 2013 due to injuries) before moving to tight end before last season.
Used mostly as a blocker, Hounshell appeared in all 13 games for the Fiesta Bowl-bound Irish (who lost to Ohio State), catching one pass and starting three games.
