Sooners have their fingers crossed on DeMarco Murray

After being knocked out of Oklahoma’s game with Texas Tech Saturday with what was diagnosed as bruised ribs, DeMarco Murray returned to the field for just one second-half carry as the Sooners won going away.

The fact that the running back didn’t return was due in large part to the injury as well as a 38-7 third-quarter lead. The injury, though, doesn’t appear to be serious. In fact, offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson seems relatively convinced Murray will be able to practice this week as the Sooners gear up for Saturday’s game against Baylor.

“The way we practice, unless the injury is more severe than anticipated or what he showed post game, hopefully he’ll be able to,” Wilson said. “You try to get guys the key looks you think they need. I don’t think it will be a problem. We’ll see as we get into it (Monday), Tuesday for sure.”

Murray leads the Sooners with 911 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns, while he’s second in receptions (54) and receiving touchdowns (4) and third in receiving yardage (374).
