Suspended Miami LB Eddie Johnson no longer enrolled in school

After suspending Eddie Johnson early last month, Miami head coach Al Golden stated he was “hopeful” for the linebacker’s return to the team.

While that may ultimately be the case, those prospects certainly aren’t looking good at the moment.

Citing a UM official, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Tuesday that Johnson is no longer enrolled in classes at the school. That news comes on the heels of the release of the Hurricanes’ official roster, of which Johnson was not a part.

The team has not given any new update as to Johnson’s status, although the paper writes that this latest development points to Johnson’s career being “on life support.”

Johnson missed two games last season for disciplinary reasons. His latest suspension was the result of an “accumulation of undisclosed issues.”

When Johnson was on the field last season, the redshirt freshman made an impact. He led the ‘Canes with 7.5 tackles for loss and finished fourth in tackles with 59 despite playing in just 10 games. He started eight of those contests.
