Three-year offensive line starter leaves Army

Here’s a pretty good representation of the height/weight limitations the service academies have for their players: Army senior offensive lineman Ryan Powis has left the team, according to the Times Herald-Record’s Sal Interdonato.

Powis stands at 6-foot, 248 pounds and started at center for Army the last three years.

Under new coach Jeff Monken, though, Army was looking for more size at center and went with the 6-foot-3, 285 pound Matt Hugenberg. Powi was moved to left tackle and was second on the depth chart at that position.

Army hasn’t made a bowl game since 2010 and has only finished a season in the AP top 25 once since the 1950s -- that coming in 1996, when the Black Knights went 10-2 and won the Independence Bowl.
