Chris Petersen got a nice present on the eve of National Signing Day as four-star safety Budda Baker from Bellevue, Wash., announced on Tuesday night that he will stay in-state and play for the Huskies.
He chose Washington over UCLA and USC after decommitting from Oregon in December. He’s ranked as the top player in his home state and 61st nationally by Rivals.com.
“I’m just a big family person. Family always comes first,” Baker said. “I’ll be close to my family. They’ll be able to come see me play. It’s just a true blessing.”
Baker is an excellent athlete who could conceivably shine at wide receiver or running back -- he’s a dangerous player with the ball in his hands -- but safety is expected to be his future position.
