Torn Achilles tendon sidelines UConn’s Wildcat QB for the year

One of the athletes UConn used in its running game last year won’t be available in 2013.

UConn announced on Sunday that quarterback/wide receiver Scott McCummings sustained an Achilles tendon injury over the weekend and will miss the entire season recovering.

McCummings, a six-foot-two junior, was used primarily as the team’s Wildcat quarterback last year. He only attempted two passes last year, completing one, but was the team’s second-leading rusher with 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
