No. 12 UCLA could be down a veteran cornerback as it readies for a neutral site game against Texas on Saturday. Head coach Jim Mora told the media Sunday that junior corner Randall Goforth is “questionable to doubtful” for Saturday after suffering a right shoulder injury in the Bruins’ 42-35 defeat of Memphis on Saturday night, according to Chris Foster of the Los Angeles Times.
Making maters worse, Goforth has previously separated his left shoulder on multiple occasions, Mora said, which makes this injury especially worrisome.
A native of Long Beach, Goforth has started 16 consecutive games for the Bruins. The 2013 All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention performer ranked fourth on the team in tackles (78) and second in interceptions (three) in 2013. Goforth has recorded seven tackles with one tackle for loss, one pass defended and one pass breakup. He also returned a fumble 75 yards for a touchdown, the second of UCLA’s three defensive touchdowns in the first quarter of a 28-20 win at Virginia.
Additionally, Mora said that wide receiver Eldridge Massington suffered a “minor” sprained ankle, and that sophomore dual-threat wonder-kid Myles Jack could soon see some more work at running back. Jack ranks second on the club with 19 tackles through two games this season.
UCLA will meet Texas at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday night (8 p.m. ET, FOX).
