More than once on the most recent spinning of the NFL’s coaching carousel, Jim Mora‘s name was mentioned as a potential fit at the professional level. A few months later, coincidentally or not, the UCLA head coach has pulled in a shiny new tweak to his contract.
Tuesday afternoon, athletic director Dan Guerrero announced that Mora has reached an agreement on a two-year contract extension with the university. Mora is now signed through the 2021 season.
There was no specific word on whether any type of raise was involved in the new agreement. Mora’s total compensation of $3.35 million in 2015 was second in the Pac-12 behind Washington’s Chris Petersen‘s $3.402 million.
In Mora’s first four seasons at UCLA, the Bruins have gone 37-16. The 37 wins ties the school record for a four-year span.
Additionally, the Bruins’ 10 wins in each of the 2013 and 2014 seasons tied the school record for most wins in a season.
Of course, the Bruins are also a pedestrian 23-13 in Pac-12 play in Mora’s time and have yet to win a conference championship. They did, though, win the South division title in his first season with the football program in 2012, so there’s that.
