VIDEO: J.T. Barrett plays ‘I’m the QB of OSU’ card during OVI arrest

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and, in his time of need, J.T. Barrett decided to go with the tried & true celebrity fallback during his recent encounter with law enforcement.

As you no doubt know by now, the Ohio State quarterback was arrested late last month for operating a vehicle under the influence and suspended for one game by head coach Urban Meyer. Unfortunately for Barrett, TMZ.com has obtained the dash-cam footage of the arrest, which shows the redshirt sophomore not-so-deftly avoiding a DUI checkpoint... and denying he had anything to drink... and performing a field sobriety test ... before busting out the “do you know who I am?” card as he’s being led to the back of a police cruiser.

“I’m the quarterback of Ohio State,” Barrett said for those who couldn’t make it out, adding, “officer, there’s nothing you can do?” In a related note, if ESPN decides to head to Ann Arbor for the OSU-Michigan game, the GameDay signs will have a wealth of material in just those two sentences alone.

In addition to his suspension for the Minnesota game this past weekend, Barrett will see his summer scholarship aid stripped as well as a result of the arrest. Barrett pleaded guilty earlier this week to the OVI charge and, among other things, had his license suspended for 180 days.

Barrett, who had just wrested control of the starting job from Cardale Jones prior to his bye-week arrest, is expected to start this Saturday’s game against Illinois.
