Walmart caper nets pair of UNT players an arrest, suspension

Get your football program under control post-haste, Mr. Kercheval.

According to the Denton Record-Chronicle, linebacker Sed Ellis (pictured) and tight end Chris Loving were arrested following an incident at Walmart recently and charged with misdemeanor theft. Specifically, Bonnie and Clod have been accused of stealing a pair of televisions from the store.

The Record-Chronicle writes in an update that ‘the arrest affidavit said that both admitted to the thefts and turned the televisions over to police.”

Both players have been indefinitely suspended by head coach Dan McCarney.

“After having a chance to speak with Chris and Sed about this situation I have decided to suspend them from the North Texas football program indefinitely. We have built this program on integrity and we have high expectations from all of our student athletes on and off the field. This type of behavior will not be tolerated.”

Ellis exited spring practice as a co-starter after playing in 10 games as a true freshman in 2013. Various injuries kept Loving from seeing any action in 2013 after coming to the Mean Green from the JUCO ranks.
