We’re still a little under four months away from the start of summer camps, five months away from the start of regular season. Hell, spring practice hasn’t even ended for some schools.
So, that means that it’s a tad early for a poll ranking the Top 25 teams in the country, right?
As John McLaughlin was wont to say, “WRONG!!!”
ESPN’s College Football Live show put together their preemie Top 25 list and, as expected, defending national champion Alabama comes in at No. 1. That’s the spot in the official preseason polls the Tide is expected to assume, so it makes sense to slap them in there a half a year in advance.
Following ‘Bama, in order, are Ohio State, Boise State, Texas and Virginia Tech. Depending on how the votes fall, No. 3 is likely to be the lowest the Broncos will start the season as they return 21 of 22 starters from an undefeated team, and there’s a chance they could slide into the slot right behind ‘Bama.
The second half of the Top Ten consists of TCU, Florida, Iowa, Nebraska and Oregon.
I’m not even going to bitch about these rankings because, well, there are still almost five months until we get real. Y’all, of course, can feel free to piss and moan about how your school has been dissed by the World Wide Leader.
Anyway, here’s how their Top 25 shakes out:
