White Sox signed RHP Dan Winkler to a minor league contract.
It’s a good landing spot for Winkler with the White Sox’ bullpen dealing with numerous injuries. The 32-year-old had been pitching at Triple-A in the Rangers organization, holding a 3.50 ERA and 26/13 K/BB ratio over 18 innings.

Dan Winkler has opted out of his contract with the Rangers and is now a free agent.
Both Winkler and Nick Tropeano made the decision to opt-out of their deals with the Rangers. The right-hander registered a 3.50 ERA and 26/13 K/BB ratio over 18 appearances with Triple-A Round Rock. He’ll now have a chance to explore opportunities elsewhere -- MLB-related or not.

Rangers signed RHP Dan Winkler to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Levi Weaver of The Athletic adds that Winkler can make $1 million in the majors this season. The 31-year-old righty was released by the Cubs last August after posting an underwhelming 5.22 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 40/30 K/BB ratio across 39 2/3 innings (47 appearances). He’ll compete for a spot this spring in the Rangers’ Opening Day bullpen.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Rangers are close to signing Dan Winkler to a minor league contract.
The deal presumably would include a non-roster invite to spring training. Winkler, 32, has struggled the last few years after some initially success with the Braves.

    Cubs released RHP Dan Winkler.
Winkler was cut loose after being designated for assignment earlier this week. The 31-year-old righty posted a lackluster 5.22 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 40/30 K/BB ratio across 39 2/3 innings this season. Given his extensive big-league experience, he should be able to land another opportunity rather quickly.

Cubs designated RHP Dan Winkler for assignment.
Winkler got off to a great start this season, but he’s been a mess lately, surrendering 13 runs (12 earned) on nine hits and five walks over his last 1 2/3 innings of work. The Cubs are ready to turn the page.

The Cubs made the move on Friday, adding Winkler back to their bullpen mix. The 31-year-old righty has allowed one run on five hits with a 12/7 K/BB ratio over 10 2/3 innings this season.

Cubs placed RHP Dan Winkler on the 10-day injured list with right triceps tendinitis.
Yet another injury for the Cubs. This is a tough break for Winkler, who just returned from the COVID-19 injured list in recent days. It’s unclear how long he might be sidelined.

Cubs activated RHP Dan Winkler from the COVID-19 injured list.
Winkler ended up missing nearly a week due to COVID-19 protocols after bullpen coach Chris Young tested positive earlier this week. The 31-year-old righty owns a 2.25 ERA with a 5/4 K/BB ratio over four innings (five appearances) this season.

Brandon Workman (COVID-19) and Dan Winkler (COVID-19) will throw bullpen sessions Friday.
Assuming they get through them with no issues, they will be activated Sunday. Workman and Winkler were two of a handful of Cubs players to go on the COVID-19 injured list earlier this week, although none of the players have tested positive.
