Rams DT Darell Scott (concussion) has been cleared for contact.
Scott has been sidelined since sustaining the concussion on special teams nearly three weeks ago. If he gets the call on Sunday, Scott will add depth to the defensive tackle rotation.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #97
Rams DT Darell Scott recently underwent arthroscopic knee surgery.
The knee scope will sideline Scott into the season and derail his already long shot of making the final roster. Jermelle Cudjo and Matt Conrath are expected to open the season as the primary backups to starters Michael Brockers and Kendall Langford.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #97
Rams DT Darell Scott was forced from Sunday’s loss to the Cowboys late in the first half with a head injury, and did not return.
The reserve defensive tackle suffered the injury on special teams. He remained down on the ground for several minutes, but was able to walk off the field under his own power, and will make the Rams’ trip back to St. Louis with the rest of the team. More than likely, he’s suffered a concussion.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #97
Rams selected Clemson DT Dorell Scott with the No. 103 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
At 6'3/312 many 3-4 teams liked Scott, who projected as an end in those schemes but will compete for snaps with nose tackle Cliff Ryan in St. Louis. The Rams should be at least slightly stronger against the run this year with a beefed-up rotation inside and James Laurinaitis delivering blows up the gut.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #97
Rams agreed to terms with fourth-round DT Dorell Scott on a four-year contract, $2.27 millon contract. The deal includes a $520,000 signing bonus.
Scott moves quite well for a big man (4.95 speed at 6'3/312) and gives new coach Steve Spagnuolo a more explosive option at the nose than holdover Cliff Ryan. Scott enters camp no worse than the Rams’ third defensive tackle.
  • LAR Defensive Lineman
Rams DT LaJuan Ramsey got most of the work with the starters in practice Wednesday.
Ramsey will get the first crack at replacing Gary Gibson (ankle), who is out for the season. Third-round rookie Dorell Scott will also take reps. St. Louis is highly vulnerable up the middle with SS James Butler (knee) questionable for Week 6. Expect a bounce-back game for Maurice Jones-Drew.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #95
Rams placed DT Gary Gibson on injured reserve with a broken ankle/foot, ending his season.
St. Louis will likely now see what third-round rookie Dorell Scott can do as a starter. Gibson finishes with 11 tackles and zero sacks in five starts.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #97
Darell Scott opened Rams training camp as a starting defensive tackle.
He worked next to Fred Robbins with incumbent Gary Gibson still unsigned. The Rams are believed to be interested in re-signing Gibson, but they may give Scott every opportunity win the starting job in the meantime. A third-year player and former No. 103 pick in the draft, Scott earned just 250 snaps on defense last season. He has yet to record his first career sack.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #76
Rams promoted DT Jermelle Cudjo from their practice squad.
DTs Dorell Scott (ankle) and Clifton Ryan (migraines) are expected to miss Week 3, so Cudjo will likely get a few reps as the only backup behind starters Gary Gibson and Fred Robbins. Washington RB Clinton Portis looks like a solid RB2 in this favorable matchup.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #97
Rams DT Dorrell Scott is out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain.
Scott has been one of the biggest bright spots of the Rams’ 2009 draft class, and was playing a major role off the bench behind Fred Robbins and Gary Gibson. St. Louis needs Clifton Ryan (migraines) to get back quickly.
