NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport report free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie hasn’t “give up on the idea” of returning to the NFL.
Once a premiere coverage corner, Rodgers-Cromartie, now 35, hasn’t played since 2019 -- his lone season in Washington. He had “retired” during the 2018 season because the Raiders weren’t giving him much playing time. Rapoport said Rodgers-Cromartie has workouts lined up with several teams for after the NFL Draft. If teams are uninterested, he’s expected to turn to coaching.

  • Redskins signed DB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
Rodgers-Cromartie “retired” midway through last season because he was not getting enough playing time with the Raiders, but he quickly changed his mind once the offseason hit. It is not clear how much the 33-year-old (in April) has left in the tank, but Washington could use some help in the secondary even after spending big for Landon Collins.
  • Free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is working out for the Seahawks this week.
Rodgers-Cromartie was expected to work out last weekend, but he had to postpone because of a “family matter.” He is also scheduled to work out for the Raiders if he leaves Seattle without a deal.
  • Free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie worked out for the Raiders.
Rodgers-Cromartie left his Seattle visit without a deal last week. The Raiders are in the market for veteran corner help and have been linked to both Rodgers-Cromartie and Bashaud Breeland. Rodgers-Cromartie should be available on a one-yeal deal.
  • NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has decided to come out of retirement.
Rodgers-Cromartie decided to “retire” during the middle of last season after playing zero snaps for the Raiders in Week 7. At this point, it seems like he was just trying to get out of a bad situation. On the eve of 33 (in April), Rodgers-Cromartie theoretically still has some gas in the tank, but he struggled for interest last offseason before signing with Oakland.
  • Raiders signed CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
Rodgers-Cromartie showed enough in a Wednesday workout to land a deal. The Raiders have been searching for secondary upgrades and settled on Rodgers-Cromartie over Bashaud Breeland. Rodgers-Cromartie is going to need some time to get acclimated to DC Paul Guenther’s scheme, but he should push Gareon Conley for outside snaps.
  • Raiders CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has retired after 11 seasons in the NFL.
This decision comes after Rodgers-Cromartie played zero defensive snaps against the Colts in Week 7. A first-round pick by the Cardinals in 2008, DRC spent time with five different teams including a four-year stint with the Giants from 2014 to 2017. He appeared in two Super Bowls with the Cardinals in 2008 and the Broncos in 2013. Rodgers-Cromartie finishes his career with 30 interceptions and two Pro Bowl nods.
  • Raiders coach Jon Gruden expects CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (questionable, hamstring) to play in Sunday’s game with the Browns.
Rodgers-Cromartie was added to the injury report after tweaking his hamstring at Friday’s practice. Late week setbacks are never good, but it sounds like the Raiders think he can play through this. Rodgers-Cromartie has played just 44 sub-package snaps this year.
  • Raiders CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (hamstring) is questionable for Week 4 against the Browns.
DRC reportedly “tweaked” his hamstring at Friday’s practice, though the expectation is that he’ll be ready for Sunday’s home game against Cleveland. The 32-year-old journeyman has registered three tackles over 44 defensive snaps this season.
  • Free agent DB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is visiting the Redskins on Friday.
DRC “retired” midway through last season after not playing snaps with the Raiders. The soon-to-be 33-year-old drew some interest from the Redskins last year before landing in Oakland. He doesn’t have much left to give at this point.
