Podcast: Meadows Rising, Ramirez Struggling

Austin Meadows

Despite already missing 15 games with a thumb injury, Austin Meadows still has more home runs (eight) than Bryce Harper, J.D. Martinez and Freddie Freeman (seven each). And he has more stolen bases than Mookie Betts and Ronald Acuna.

I’m cherry picking stats, no question, but the overarching point is this: Meadows, when on the field this season, has been ridiculously good, with a .360 average, eight homers, 22 RBI, three steals and a 1.148 OPS in just 86 at-bats.

As we hit the quarter point of the 2019 season, Meadows (and his 212 ADP) is one of five names we chose to highlight as a pleasant surprise, while Jose Ramirez (currently hitting .193) stands near the top of the biggest fantasy disappointments.

Chris Crawford joined me on the podcast to consider what’s ahead for Ramirez, Meadows and a host of others, including Tim Anderson, Matt Carpenter and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. You can check out the full episode right here:
