The 33-year-old right-hander will earn a $650,000 salary, a $200,000 signing bonus and has the ability to earn an additional $200,000 in incentives. Peña made 32 starts with the Eagles in 2023 — going 11-11 with a 3.60 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and a 147/59 K/BB ratio over 177 1/3 innings. He hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the 2021 season.

Peña will make $850,000 this season in Korea. He signed with the Eagles last June, shortly after being released from a minor league contract with the Mets. The 32-year-old righty reliever last appeared in the majors with the Angels during the 2021 campaign.

Peña has a deal lined up with a club in the Korea Baseball Organization. He was sporting a 4.06 ERA and 26/9 K/BB ratio through 31 innings (six starts, two relief appearances) this season with the Mets’ Triple-A affiliate.

Peña spent the majority of the 2021 campaign at Triple-A Salt Lake and was eventually released by the Angels in late September. The 32-year-old righty, who has pitched exclusively as a reliever over the last two years, holds a respectable 4.66 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 267/95 K/BB ratio across 260 2/3 innings (104 appearances, 24 starts) at the major-league level since 2016. He’ll bolster the Mets’ organizational pitching depth this upcoming season.

Peña was removed from the Angels’ 40-man roster back in May and has spent nearly all of the season at Triple-A Salt Lake, struggling both there (8.03 ERA) and during his brief time with the Angels (37.80 ERA).

He is now officially off the 40-man roster. Noe Ramirez will fill that open spot on Tuesday.

Peña has been roughed up since returning from the injured list earlier this week, allowing seven runs on seven hits and four walks over 1 2/3 innings (two appearances). The 31-year-old righty should be back up in the Angels’ bullpen at some point soon.

Peña wound up missing the opening five weeks of the regular season due to a hamstring injury. He’ll slide into a versatile multi-inning role right out of the gate for the Angels’ bullpen.

Pena suffered the injury a couple weeks ago. He could potentially be ready to rejoin the bullpen by mid-April.

Pena is expected to miss the next 2-to-4 weeks after being diagnosed with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain last week. He’ll need to extend to 150 feet before progressing to throwing off a mound. Barring any setbacks, he should be back in the Angels’ bullpen by the end of April.
