Investigation of Payne Stewart Airline Accident Ends

3504.ashx

According to a report filed by Orlando-based WESH NewsChannel 2, the criminal investigation into wrongful death allegations of the late Payne Stewart has been concluded, with LearJet operator SunJet Aviation cleared of all charges.

The company had been under investigation since the crash in April 1999 and was issued lawsuits by the victims families one year later.

Yet, a letter recently received by SunJet stated that no criminal charges would follow.

‘They haven’t found anything we’ve done at all, in any regard, to cause that accident,’ SunJet’s former president James Watkins told WESH.

While all charges were officially dropped, however, the companys insurance provider has reportedly paid out seven-figure settlements to the families.
