A trip worth making

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – J.J. Henry could not have left Grayhawk quickly enough Saturday. Not because his even-par 70 was disappointing, but because Henry had another tee time ... a flight to Provo, Utah to watch his beloved TCU football team take on BYU.

After a quick 1-hour flight from the nearby Scottsdale airport, Henry arrived in time to see TCU put a beat down on BYU, 38-7. But the story gets better from there. TCU coach Gary Patterson brought Henry into the locker room after the game. He told his players that Henry flew all the way from Scottsdale, mid-tournament, just to see that big victory. The team then put Henry in the middle of a huge team cheer.

“That,” Henry told me while clad in TCU purple Sunday, “made the entire trip worth it.”
