Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh, Ind., has been selected by the United States Golf Assn. to host the 2006 U.S. Senior Amateur Championship.
‘It will be a fantastic experience for this community that the USGA is able to bring this national championship to southern Indiana,’ said Tom Rose, head golf professional. ‘We feel the community will help support this championship and make it a great event.’
The event is scheduled for Sept. 16-21, 2006 at the site designed by Tom Fazio and owned by Terry Friedman. This is the first USGA championship hosted by Victoria National.
The course, opened in 1998, hosted the 2002 Indiana State Amateur Championship and served as a qualifying site for the 1999 U.S. Amateur, 2000 U.S. Open and 2001 U.S. Mid-Amateur.
The U.S. Senior Amateur will be played at The Virginian Golf Club in Bristol, Va., from Sept. 6-11, 2003, while the Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles will host the 2004 event from Oct. 9-14, 2004.
