PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Se Ri Pak is back.
The Hall of Famer will make her return from a shoulder injury much quicker than expected at this weeks Wegmans LPGA Championship at Locust Hill Country Club.
Pak, a three-time winner of this major, was reported to have torn the labrum in her left shoulder catching herself after slipping on the clubhouse steps at the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic six weeks ago. Pak said more extensive examinations revealed a less severe injury than first suspected.
Everyones really surprised to see me back already, she said.
Pak credited the LPGAs medical team with helping her rebound so quickly in a rehab regimen. She got a final OK to make her comeback from Dr. James Andrews, the Alabama-based orthopedic specialist known for his treatment of high-profile athletes.
I have no problems and no pain, but I do have to be careful about things, she said.
Pak has a big summer ahead of her. The U.S. Women’s Open returns next monthto Blackwolf Run, site of her ’98 victory thatmotivated so many South Korean girls to take up golf.
