Chargers CB Shareece Wright is out 4-6 weeks with a high ankle sprain and partial tear of an ankle ligament.
He apparently won’t be placed on injured reserve just yet. A 2011 third-round pick out of USC, Wright was coming on with a big training camp before going down in Week 1. The Chargers will be thin behind Quentin Jammer, Antoine Cason, and Marcus Gilchrist going forward. They also cut CB Greg Gatson on Monday.
  • FA Defensive Back
Chargers signed CB Greg Gatson from the team’s practice squad.
That’s two weeks in a row now that Gatson and the Chargers have done the roster dance. The Bolts are a little banged up in the secondary with Shareece Wright (foot) out. If active, Gatson will be limited to special teams.
  • FA Guard #74
Chargers re-signed OG Reggie Wells and waived CB Greg Gatson.
The Bolts continue to play the roster shuffle with Wells and Gatson in order to keep Wells’ rights if he’s needed for the upcoming week. They can re-assign Gatson to the practice squad. Wells is a backup guard/center.
  • FA Defensive Back
Chargers signed cornerback Greg Gatson off the team’s practice squad.
Gatson will be San Diego’s fourth cornerback on Sunday and contribute on special teams. Shareece Wright is out with a foot injury and Quentin Jammer has a broken thumb that he plans to play with. Gatson was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas.
  • FA Defensive Back
Chargers promoted CB Greg Gatson from the practice squad.
The undrafted rookie out of Arkansas appeared in two games earlier this season. He’ll contribute on special teams if he’s active for Sunday’s finale.
