Jets designated DL Paschal Ekeji as their exempt/international player.
The move adds a spot to the Jets’ practice squad, allowing the former rugby player to continue developing without counting against the NFL’s roster limits. Ekeji, 24, joined the Jets last season, but did not play. The Jets also waived OL Gus Hartwig and S Chris Smith II.

Three-star 2020 OL Gus Hartwig has verbally committed to attend Purdue.
Hartwig (6'5/275) is the second verbal commit in Purdue’s 2020 class, joining three-star ILB Ben Kreul. The Zionsville, Indiana native, who’s ranked the seventh-best center in the 2020 class by 247Sports.com, also held offers from Indiana, Cincinnati, Kansas and Vanderbilt. Hartwig most recently visited Purdue less than a week ago, and it was his unofficial visit to Ohio State the following day that made it clear that Jeff Brohm’s program was the best fit. “I had a really good visit at Purdue this weekend but was put it over the top is I went to Ohio State on Saturday,” Hartwig told 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong. “I was expecting a lot more than what I saw and it put in perspective how close Purdue really is and how I want to be part of that.”
