Bears LB J.T. Thomas was arrested in Morgantown (WV) Monday morning for misdemeanor marijuana possession.
The arrest will hurt Thomas’ chances of making the Bears’ 53-man roster after the team was reportedly “unpleased” with his physicality as a rookie. A sixth-round pick who spent his first season on I.R., Thomas was pulled over at 3:55 AM for driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Police discovered two baggies of marijuana in Thomas’ glove compartment after a search. The misdemeanor charge accuses Thomas of possessing less than 15 grams of weed.

Bears LB J.T. Thomas is expected to be cleared of a misdemeanor drug possession charge before the regular season begins.
Thomas was charged with possession of less than 15 grams of marijuana after driving the wrong way on a one-way street in February. As long as he completes the terms of a deferred sentence, the charge is likely to be dropped. Thomas is not expected to face NFL suspension.

Jaguars claimed LB J.T. Thomas off waivers from the Bears.
Thomas was a sixth-round pick out of West Virginia in 2011. He’ll compete for special teams duties and snaps at outside linebacker in Jacksonville.

    Bears waived LB J.T. Thomas.
Thomas spent two years with the Bears and was active in every game last year. As a core special teamer, he could get some sniffs around the league.

NJ Advance Media’s James Kratch believes Giants WLB J.T. Thomas is on the roster bubble.
Thomas was an 11-game starter last season, but Kratch reports he has been passed on the depth chart by Jonathan Casillas. He also missed time during the offseason program with an undisclosed injury. The Giants do not have much quality, but they have plenty of bodies at linebacker. Thomas will have to stay healthy to have any shot at a roster spot.

Giants LB J.T. Thomas was carted off with a knee injury in Sunday’s game against the Cowboys.
Thomas went down just before the half. It had the looks of a surefire season-ender. Thomas was an 11-game starter last season, but entered Week 1 buried on the depth chart.

Giants placed LB J.T. Thomas on injured reserve with torn ligaments in his left knee, ending his season.
The former defensive starter was injured on special teams. Thomas played zero snaps on defense. Missing his age-28 season, Thomas is due $2.975 million in 2017. He won’t be back at that price.

James Kratch of NJ Advance Media believes the Giants will cut LB J.T. Thomas.
Thomas is owed $3 million in salary and bonuses, and the Giants can save all of that against the cap by releasing him. Signed to a three-year, $10-million contract before the 2015 season, Thomas lost his starting job during training camp before suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week 1. It will be a surprise if he is still on the roster when free agency opens in March.

Giants LB J.T. Thomas (ACL) expects to be ready for training camp.
Thomas tore his left ACL last Week 1. Due $2.975 million, Thomas was expected to be released, but has survived past free agency and the draft. The Giants wouldn’t save any more money by designating him as a post-June 1 release. Perhaps the G-Men want to keep Thomas around as an experienced depth piece who could contribute on special teams.

ESPN Giants reporter Dan Graziano believes newly-signed LB J.T. Thomas is the favorite to start at weakside linebacker.
The Giants are apparently concerned Devon Kennard lacks the speed to be effective in coverage on the weak side. Thomas has not been particularly effective in coverage during his four-year career, but is a strong run defender. Kennard figures to move to the strong side, with Jon Beason stationed in the middle. Jameel McClain and Mark Herzlich will provide depth.
