Packers re-signed DB Jarrett Bush to a three-year contract.
Bush drew interest from the Rams, Jets and Cardinals, but will return to the team where he’s spent his entire six-year career. He intercepted a career-high two passes last season, but was typically poor in coverage, and played only 297 defensive snaps. It’s unlikely Bush was being offered more playing time elsewhere. He figures to focus on special teams in 2012.
  • FA Defensive Back #24
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Rams are interested in free agent DB Jarrett Bush.
An ace special teamer, Bush was a nightmare on defense last season, routinely getting burned while playing in one of the league’s worst secondaries. He’d likely be in for few defensive snaps in St. Louis.
  • FA Defensive Back #24
Free agent DB Jarrett Bush visited the Jets on Saturday, and will visit the Cardinals Monday.
Bush has also drawn interest from the Rams and Cowboys, and reportedly remains an option in Green Bay. He’s drawing a lot of interest for a player who played very poorly in 2011.
  • FA Center #63
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel tabs Packers’ free agents C Scott Wells and CB Jarrett Bush as candidates to walk if they hit the open market.
The paper believes the Packers are “going to have to work hard” to get Wells and Bush re-signed before the start of free agency, and that both “would be happy to shop themselves around the league.” Pro Football Focus graded Wells as the league’s fourth best center in 2011, while Bush made two interceptions as the Packers’ dime back.
  • FA Defensive Back
The Packers still haven’t named their starting right cornerback.
Sam Shields and Jarrett Bush have been rotating on the right side while Tramon Williams holds down the left side. It’s not a major factor as the Packers will use their nickel defense plenty.
  • FA Defensive Back
Packers CB Sam Shields has been officially diagnosed with a concussion.
Shields’ ailment was initially termed a “head” injury. The Packers’ nickel back is in serious jeopardy of missing Sunday’s game against the Vikings. With Minnesota likely to start rookie quarterback Christian Ponder, It should be a loss Green Bay can weather for one week. Shields was replaced by Jarrett Bush on Sunday.
  • FA Defensive Back
Packers CB Sam Shields was forced from Sunday’s game against the Rams with a head injury, and will not return.
He’s been replaced by Jarrett Bush. More than likely, Shields has a concussion. He suffered the injury on an interception of Sam Bradford in the end zone, getting lit up after deciding not to take a knee. The Packers travel to Minnesota in Week 7 before going on bye in Week 8, making it possible Shields won’t return before Week 9.
  • FA Defensive Back
Going forward, the Packers will use Will Blackmon strictly at safety and Jarrett Bush strictly at cornerback.
Their primary roles differ, however. Blackmon, coming off a torn ACL, is primarily a returner. Bush is a nickel back. Neither will threaten to start.
  • FA Defensive Back #24
Free agent DB Jarrett Bush has been suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season.
Bush was arrested for Disorderly Conduct Under the Influence in early March for an incident outside of a California restaurant/bar. He ended up not being charged. Bush was the Packers’ special teams captain in 2014.
  • FA Defensive Back #24
Free agent DB Jarrett Bush’s four-game suspension is for violating the league’s PED policy.
In other words, Bush’s ban wasn’t related to his March arrest for public intoxication. Bush was never charged in the incident. Now 31, Bush appeared in 15 games for the Packers last season, but played just 42 snaps on defense, zero of which came after Week 8.
