NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the Ravens are “now not expected to hire” Jerry Rosburg after talks between the two sides did not end in a deal.
This is a bit of a surprise, given Rosburg’s relationship with the Ravens. The long-time coach spent 11 years in Baltimore and felt like a lock to return after Pelissero announced earlier that the Ravens were looking to hire him. Rosburg was expected to help with game management in his new role but, instead, will remain available for other teams to sign. He did not hold a position in the league in 2023.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the Ravens are hiring Jerry Rosburg “in a role focused on game management.”
Rosburg worked with the Ravens from 2008 to 2018, serving as the special teams coordinator and assistant head coach. Former assistant head coach Anthony Weaver left last week to serve as the Dolphins’ defensive coordinator, leaving an opening on the staff for Rosburg to fill. Whether he’s officially named the assistant head coach is anybody’s guess, but the Ravens clearly value Rosburg’s presence and aim to put him to good use next season. Rosburg last worked with the Broncos in 2022. Interestingly, he was brought on in-season to help Nathaniel Hackett with clock management, and eventually took over as Denver’s interim head coach after Hackett was fired with two games still to go.

Broncos parted ways with interim HC Jerry Rosburg.
Rosburg was brought on during the season by former head coach Nathaniel Hackett to help with the team’s clock management. He was subsequently promoted to interim head coach for the team’s final game of the 2022 season and nearly upset the Chiefs in his one-and-done coaching debut. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport noted that Rosburg’s dismissal was “a procedural move to terminate with an expiring contract” but said it’s possible he could return with the new regime.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Broncos named senior assistant coach Jerry Rosburg as interim head coach.
Rosburg was hired by Nathaniel Hackett during the season to help with clock management. With Hackett now gone, Rosburg will take over head coaching duties for the Broncos’ final two games of the season. Rosburg first joined the NFL when the Browns hired him as a special teams coordinator in 2001. He has also spent time with the Falcons and Ravens, serving on the Ravens’ Super Bowl-winning team during the 2012 season. For all his NFL experience, Rosburg has never served as head coach in an NFL game. Unfortunately, Rosburg’s first test will come in Week 17 against the 12-3 Chiefs on the road at Arrowhead Stadium.
