Jets waived or released OLB Ricky Sapp, WR Joseph Collins, CB Donnie Fletcher, CB LeQuan Lewis, OL Paul Cornick, OL Fred Koloto, DB Julian Posey, DL Jay Richardson, TE Tarren Lloyd, WR Eron Riley, DL Damon Harrison, DL Martin Tevaseu, DB D’Anton Lynn, LB Marcus Dowtin, QB Matt Simms, P Spencer Lanning and OL Matt Kroul.
Sapp had been limited by a high ankle sprain this month. The oft-injured 2010 fifth-round Eagles pick is a candidate for the practice squad, along with Harrison and Dowtin. As of now, the Jets plan on keeping FB John “The Terminator” Connor despite a poor camp.
  • FA Running Back #38
Jets FB John Conner is not assured of a spot on the team’s 53-man roster.
TE Josh Baker is a lock to make the team and can play the position. ESPN New York’s Rich Cimini points to the diminishing role of the fullback as the reason why Conner may not stick, but the Jets intend in relying heavily on the run. It would be a moderate surprise if the “Terminator” was waived.
  • FA Running Back #38
Jets FB John Conner (MCL) has “avoided serious injury,” and is day-to-day.
Conner aggravated an MCL sprain in yesterday’s loss, but could be ready for Sunday’s tilt with the Dolphins. The Jets’ running game struggled mightily against the Steelers, but it’s doubtful Conner’s absence was a major factor.
  • FA Running Back #38
Jets FB John Conner aggravated his knee injury during Sunday’s loss to the Steelers.
Conner came into the game with a sprained MCL and tweaked it. He’ll have an MRI on Monday.
  • FA Running Back #38
John Conner (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 2 against the Steelers.
Conner was active for the season opener, but was limited in practice this week with a knee injury. The Jets would be forced to use two tight ends in their rushing offense if Conner is ruled out. Antonio Cromartie (shoulder), WR Stephen Hill (calf), and NT Sione Pouha (lower back) are all officially listed as probable.
  • FA Running Back #38
Jets waived FB John Conner with an injury settlement and promoted LB Marcus Dowtin from their practice squad.
Conner gained fame on “Hard Knocks” thanks to his bone-bruising blocks on special teams, but the Jets quickly soured on his lead-blocking ability. An MCL sprain sealed the deal here.
  • FA Running Back #38
Jets FB John Conner (knee) has been ruled out for Week 3 against the Dolphins.
Conner has been dealing with an MCL issue for the past two weeks. Going up against a stout Miami run defense, Shonn Greene is a fantasy situation to stay far away from. The Jets will also be without tight end Dustin Keller.
  • FA Running Back #38
Jets declared FB John Conner, QB Greg McElroy, DB Donnie Fletcher, DE Damon Harrison, OT Dennis Landolt, TE Dustin Keller, and OG Caleb Schlauderaff inactive for Week 3 against the Dolphins.
No real surprises here. Keller (hamstring) and Conner (knee) are injured. Darrelle Revis is healthy and starting. Fletcher was just signed off the practice squad. The rest of the players here are weekly healthy scratches.
  • FA Running Back #38
    Bengals signed FB John Conner.
The Jets waived Conner due to injuries in October. He was dealing with a hamstring issue and sprained MCL at the time, but has been reportedly training for the last seven weeks. The former “Hard Knocks” star will replace FB Chris Pressley, who was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury.
  • FA Running Back #38
Free agent FB John Conner is working out for the Bills Tuesday.
It’s the first known interest he’s had since being waived by the Bengals. If signed, Connor would replace struggling FB Frank Summers. The Bills primarily use their running game out of singleback and shotgun formations.
