Justin Haley has signed with the Samsung Lions in the Korea Baseball Organization.
He’ll receive a $650,000 guarantee, with the chance for an additional $250,000 in performance bonuses. Haley, 27, was outrighted off the 40-man roster for the Red Sox earlier this month. The right-hander appeared in four games with Boston in 2018 and posted a 3.80 ERA over 22 starts in Triple-A.

Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports that Justin Haley will either be designated for assignment or placed on outright waivers.
Either way, Haley is being removed from the 40-man roster. The 27-year-old made four appearances in the majors this season and posted a 3.80 ERA over 22 starts in Triple-A.

Red Sox sent RHP Justin Haley outright to Triple-A Pawtucket.
It clears another spot on the 40-man roster for the Red Sox. The 27-year-old appeared in just four games for Boston in 2018, but did post a 3.80 ERA over 22 starts for Pawtucket. He’ll likely see more time in Pawtucket if he doesn’t elect free agency.

Twins acquired RHP Justin Haley from the Angels for cash considerations.
Anaheim selected Haley from the Red Sox with the No. 8 pick in Thursday morning’s Rule 5 Draft then quickly flipped him to Minnesota. The lanky 25-year-old right-hander posted a 3.01 ERA, 1.118 WHIP, and 126/45 K/BB ratio in 146 2/3 innings (26 starts, one relief appearance) this past summer with Double-A Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket. He stands to see legitimate action out of the patchwork Minnesota rotation in 2017.

Rule 5 pick Justin Haley surrendered four runs in two-plus innings Sunday against the Red Sox.
The Red Sox probably helped their chances of getting Haley back by knocking him around a bit today. The Twins have given Haley a couple of starts since Trevor May went down, but he hasn’t done much with either and he’s sporting a 7.59 ERA for the spring. If Haley doesn’t make the Twins, he’ll go on waivers at the end of the month, and the Red Sox can and almost certainly will take him back if he clears.

Rule 5 pick Justin Haley yielded three runs -- two earned -- in two innings Monday in the Twins’ 9-4 win over the Rays.
After five relief appearances with a 4.05 ERA in 6 2/3 innings, Haley got his first start today in Trevor May’s spot. It wasn’t quite the audition he was hoping for, and he’s probably no better than fourth in line for the fifth spot in the Twins’ rotation. He’ll have to be offered back to the Red Sox if he doesn’t make the Twins and clears waivers.

Rule 5 pick Justin Haley has secured a spot on the Twins’ Opening Day roster.
Haley was acquired from the Angels in December after being selected from the Red Sox in December’s Rule 5 Draft. The 25-year-old posted a 4.96 ERA and 13/4 K/BB ratio over 16 1/3 innings this spring. Barring injury, the right-hander will have to stay on the active roster all season or be offered back to his original club. Twins manager Paul Molitor also confirmed Wednesday that Michael Tonkin will be in the Opening Day bullpen.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #17
LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that the Twins will meet with Jose Berrios on Friday and there’s a “good chance” they’ll tell him he won’t make the Opening Day roster.
It sounds like Berrios playing for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic hurt his chances of cracking the rotation, as he didn’t pitch much and still needs to build his endurance up. It’s a discouraging development for a guy who has disappointed in his big league chances so far but who still holds plenty of upside. Berrios should get his opportunity in the rotation before long, though. Tyler Duffey, Justin Haley, Adalberto Mejia and Nick Tepesch look to be the last men standing in the competition for the final spot in the Twins’ rotation. Mejia (1.88 ERA, 14/4 K/BB ratio over 14 1/3 innings) has had easily the best camp of the group.

Rule 5 pick Justin Haley was credited with a save after allowing one run in 3 1/3 innings Thursday against the Tigers.
Haley fanned six while finishing up the 11-5 game. He’s allowed four runs and two homers over eight innings in his middle-relief role. Odds are that he’ll get a chance to start at some point this season.

Twins placed RHP Justin Haley on the 10-day disabled list with biceps tendinitis.
Haley unintentionally played a major role in Saturday’s game by hitting JaCoby Jones in the face with a pitch. Tigers starter Matt Boyd retaliated later in the game by throwing at Miguel Sano, which cleared the benches and led to a pair of ejections. Somewhere in between these events, Haley must have injured his biceps. The right-hander holds a 4.15 ERA over five outings for the Twins this year.
