    Giants released OLB Kareem Martin.
The 28-year-old was headed into the final year of his contract. This move clears $4.8 million in cap space for the Giants. Martin was one of ex-DC James Bettcher’s favorites after playing for him in both Arizona and New York. Bettcher was fired along with coach Pat Shurmur after the season. Martin managed 1.5 sacks across 21 games for the G-Men.

Giants released LBs Alec Ogletree and Kareem Martin.
Both moves were expected. Ogletree started 26 games for the Giants over the past two seasons, but never quite lived up to his big-money contract. Martin played in just five games in 2019 after starting seven games with mixed success in 2018. Currently no team has fewer 2020 cap dollars devoted to the defensive side of the ball than the Giants. Look for them to strongly consider utilizing the No. 4 overall pick of the 2020 draft on defense.

Giants placed OLB Kareem Martin (knee) on injured reserve.
Martin was considered week to week with a sprained knee, and there’s a chance the Giants release him with an injury settlement shortly. Martin’s roster spot will go to recent signee WR T.J. Jones.

Giants OLB Kareem Martin is week to week with a sprained knee.
Martin is a backup edge rusher and special teams contributor for DC James Bettcher. The G-Men will move forward with Lorenzo Carter, Markus Golden, and Oshane Ximines coming off the edge for this anemic pass rush.

Cardinals OLB Kareem Martin left Thursday night’s preseason finale with an MCL sprain.
A 2014 third-round bust out of North Carolina, Martin was playing in the second half of the preseason finale, suggesting he was already on the roster bubble. Although the injury isn’t severe, it could kill Martin’s roster chances.

Cardinals OLB Kareem Martin (knee) is scheduled for an MRI on Friday.
Martin left Thursday night’s preseason finale with a sprained MCL. Hopefully Friday’s MRI will confirm that diagnosis without revealing anything more serious. Coach Bruce Arians expects Martin to miss 2-6 weeks. He can be safely ruled out for next week’s opener against the Patriots.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians updated Kareem Martin’s timetable, announcing that he’ll miss 2-3 weeks.
Martin sprained his MCL last week in Arizona’s preseason finale. Arians originally gave a rough estimate of 2-6 weeks for his recovery but now it looks like Martin will be back later this month. When healthy, he’ll back up edge rushers Chandler Jones and Markus Golden.

Cardinals declared LB Kareem Martin, S Marqui Christian, DT Olsen Pierre, DT Ed Stinson, RB Stepfan Taylor, G Cole Toner and NT Xavier Williams inactive for Week 1 against the Patriots.
Martin is out with a knee injury. Justin Bethel (foot), Lamar Louis (knee), Alex Okafor (biceps), Frostee Rucker (neck) are all active for the Cardinals.

Cardinals signed No. 84 overall pick DE Kareem Martin to a four-year contract.
An imposing 6-foot-6, 272 pounds with 4.72 speed, Martin was a three-year starter at North Carolina, ringing up 44 tackles for loss with 19 sacks and four forced fumbles. Martin needs to get stronger and polish his technique, but has oodles of upside as an inside-out lineman. Cardinals RE Calais Campbell has said he “see(s) a lot of myself” in Martin.

Cardinals RE Calais Campbell said he “see[s] a lot of myself” in third-round DE Kareem Martin.
“I see me even in the way he plays, because he is so long and the way he moves,” Campbell said. “He really has a lot of upside. I am going to try to take him under my wing. He has the potential to be a great player.” Campbell stands a mountainous 6-foot-8 and 300 pounds but carries the weight extremely well. Martin checks in at 6-foot-6, 272 and can play end, stand-up edge rusher, and kick inside on passing downs. He’s likely Darnell Dockett’s heir.
