Jets worked out free agent QB C.J. Beathard on Thursday.
The Jets also worked out QB Nathan Peterman, with backup QB Tyrod Taylor sidelined for the rest of the preseason after undergoing surgery on his injured knee. Beathard last took regular season snaps with the Jaguars in 2023, while Peterman did so with the Bears that same year. The Jets also worked out WR Tyreik McAllister and TE Kole Taylor.

LSU received a verbal commitment from three-star 2020 TE Kole Taylor.
Taylor (6'7/228) listed LSU as one of his top three schools earlier in July, and ultimately the Bayou Bengals beat out Penn State and Colorado for his pledge. The 6-foot-7, 228-pound native of Grand Junction, Colorado (Central HS) took official visits to both LSU and Penn State in June, and he had also taken multiple unofficial visits to the Colorado campus in Boulder. Taylor was able to get a good feel for how new passing game coordinator Joe Brady wants to use the tight end position, and that influenced his decision to pick LSU. “They were doing a lot of really good stuff with the tight ends during spring ball, just using them in different ways, and that was really attractive to me,” Taylor told 247Sports. “They were telling me they pulled a big receiver to use him at tight end so they can pass it to him more and they showed me they’re going to use their tight ends as a hybrid spot, rather than just blocking.”

Uncommitted four-star 2020 TE Kole Taylor said that Penn State, LSU and Colorado are his three leaders.
Taylor (6'6/225) took official visits to both Penn State and LSU in the weeks leading up to the summer dead period. While he has not yet taken an official to Colorado, the Grand Junction native has taken several unofficial trips to the in-state Buffs. As of yet, Taylor does not have a commitment date on the books. Rivals ranks the four-star tight end as the No. 3 prospect in the state of Colorado for the 2020 cycle.

Uncommitted four-star 2020 TE Kole Taylor has scheduled official visits to Missouri, LSU, Washington and Penn State.
Taylor (6'6/225) will take the first of these officials this coming weekend, when he visits Missouri. He told Rivals that he has begun to forge real relationships with coaches on all four of the above mentioned programs, particularly those at Penn State. Taylor is leaving one official visit slot open for the time being. We’ll pass along word when he determines what he would like to do with that to-be-determined trip. On the 247Sports composite board, the Grand Junction, Colorado, native ranks as the No. 363 overall prospect in the 2020 class.
