Florida State DT Marvin Wilson was largely ineffective during Senior Bowl week, according to Pro Football Network’s Oliver Hodgkinson.
Wilson (6'5/305) was limited to six games during the 2020 season due to injury, and he had more health-related issues in Mobile. That, along with the lack of production during practice, has done Wilson no favors when it comes to his draft “stock.” “Although he found some small success against Deonte Brown on Tuesday, he was ineffective the rest of the week,” Hodgkinson wrote. “He missed practice on Thursday and didn’t feature in the game on Saturday. For a player who missed time with injury in 2020, it’s another additional red flag against his NFL Draft stock. Wilson looks technically and physically challenged as an NFL Draft prospect.” Wilson was projected to be a Day 3 prospect by more than a few analysts in December, and that may remain the case given his performance during Senior Bowl week.

Florida State senior DT Marvin Wilson declared for the NFL Draft.
Wilson (6'5/305) was the leader in the middle for the Seminoles, accounting for 17 total tackles (1.0 sacks, 2.0 for loss), two quarterback hurries and three blocked kicks. The senior was limited to six games this year and had his campaign cut short due to an undisclosed injury sustained in early November. He’s been given a fifth-round grade by Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline, which could turn out to be a steal if Wilson’s ability to be a disruptive force in the middle of the line translates to the NFL.

Florida State senior DT Marvin Wilson accepted an invitation to play in the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
Wilson (6'5/305) saw his 2020 season come to an end in early-November, as he was ruled out due to an undisclosed injury that required surgery. Florida State senior DT Marvin Wilson has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to address an undisclosed injury.
Wilson (6'5/305) is an important on-field leader for the Seminoles, and losing him for the season is really bad news. The senior defensive tackle did not play in Saturday’s loss to Pittsburgh, and for the season he tallied 17 total tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss, two quarterback hurries and three blocked kicks. Dennis Briggs and Robert Cooper started at the defensive tackle spots against Pittsburgh, and those two along with Fabian Lovett will receive the majority of the available reps moving forward.

Florida State senior DT Marvin Wilson has been ruled out for Saturday’s game vs. Pitt due to an undisclosed injury.
Wilson (6'5/305) has appeared in each of the Seminoles’ first six games, tallying 17 total tackles (1.0 sacks, 2.0 TFL), two quarterback hurries and three blocked kicks. To say that Florida State will miss its senior leader in the middle of the defensive line would be an understatement. Redshirt sophomore Fabian Lovett was listed as Wilson’s backup on the depth chart, so he’ll likely move into the starting nose tackle role.

Florida State senior DL Marvin Wilson released a Twitter video on equality after tweeting Wednesday that he and his teammates would not take part in voluntary workouts due to disingenuous comments made by HC Mike Norvell.
Wilson spoke passionately to issues of social justice and racial pride, preaching the importance of voter registration and vowing to help in fundraising efforts that support causes of equality, as well as fundraising efforts specifically relating to the Tallahassee area, where many African-American children grow up under the poverty line. He released this video in the midst of an uncertain week within the program. FSU HC Mike Norvell told The Athletic that he had spoken individually with players regarding the hurt and pain around the country (specifically in the African-American community) following over a week of peaceful protests in the wake of George Floyd’s death. Wilson directly contradicted Norvell’s comments in a Wednesday night tweet, explaining that the only communication that had been received came in the form of a group text. Wilson said in that same tweet that players would not be participating in voluntary workouts until further notice. Norvell met with the team on Thursday morning. Just where the players and coaching staff go from here is not immediately clear.

Florida State senior DL Marvin Wilson said that he and his teammates would not take part in voluntary workouts due to disingenuous comments made by HC Mike Norvell involving communication on race.
Norvell told The Athletic that he “went back and forth with every player” regarding the racial injustices and hurt in this country this past weekend, claiming “open communication.” Wilson subsequently unloaded on Twitter, writing that Norvell had only sent a generic group text to the team. Continued the 6-foot-5, 311-pound star lineman, “There was no one on one talk between us and coach. This is a lie and me and my teammates as a whole are outraged and we will not be working out until further notice.” Neither Wilson nor Norvell were available for comment on Thursday morning when reached out to by ESPN. Norvell is in his first year with the program, having been hired over from Memphis this winter.

Yahoo Sports’ Eric Edholm writes that Florida State senior DL Marvin Wilson’s decision to return to school “could vault him into the top-10 range if he dominates again.”
Edholm refers to Wilson’s decision to throw in one more year with the Seminoles over the winter as “stunning,” explaining that he "[t]hought [the 6-foot-5, 311-pounder] might take the money and run, and our gut was that he was trending toward a first-round selection — early second at the worst.” The analyst ranks Wilson as his No. 5 overall prospect for the 2021 NFL Draft early on. Pro Football Focus’ Anthony Treash wrote earlier this spring that he views Wilson as the top returning interior defensive lineman for the upcoming college football season. Treash is particularly keen on what Wilson has shown as a pass-rusher during his career in Tallahassee.

  • Defensive Tackle #73
ESPN’s Anthony Treash believes that Florida State senior DL Marvin Wilson is the top interior defensive lineman in college football for the 2020 season.
Wilson was somewhat of a surprise return to school for the Seminoles after putting up strong numbers -- particularly analytically -- over the last two seasons. “He has been stout against the run, Treash writes, “but the best thing we saw from Wilson during his time on the field in 2019 was his pass rushing. His 90.9 pass-rush grade across his 291 pass-rush snaps was the second-best figure in college football last season...” Treash believes that if the 6-foot-5, 311-pound defender puts up similar numbers in 2020, then Wilson could be the first interior defensive lineman drafted in 2021. Hard to argue with that.

Florida State junior DL Marvin Wilson announced Monday that he will return to school for his senior season.
This is huge news for Florida State, as HC Mike Norvell is set to begin his first year as head coach. Wilson (6'5/211) is a talented defensive lineman who was given a Day 1 grade by some draft analysts, but he has decided to make one final run at returning the Florida State program to prominence. The junior missed the final month of the season with a hand injury, and he will not play in the Seminoles’ Sun Bowl matchup with Arizona State on New Year’s Eve. Wilson tallied 44 total tackles, five sacks and one forced fumble in 2019.
