Giants P Jeff Feagles is expected to announce his retirement from football next week.
The 44-year-old is dealing with unspecified “physical issues.” Feagles’ performance fell off last year in his 22nd season. The Giants protected themselves by drafting East Carolina punter Matt Dodge in the seventh round. They also have former Australian rules player Jy Bond on the roster.

Giants P Matt Dodge’s job is currently safe, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Dodge failed to kick the final ball of Sunday’s Week 15 game out of bounds, resulting in DeSean Jackson’s walk-off touchdown return. The team loves Dodge’s strong leg and will try to weather through his rookie mistakes. Another error could cost him his job, of course.

Giants signed seventh-round P Matt Dodge to a four-year contract.
Dodge is currently locked in as New York’s Opening Day punter, as the team released his competition -- Jy Bond -- on Tuesday. While a veteran punter signing is quite possible, Dodge is the current guy holding down the fort.

    Giants waived P Matt Dodge.
Dodge was a good-locking punter prospect coming out of East Carolina, but he’s been a disaster more often than not through one NFL season and two training camps. Steve Weatherford will be the Giants’ punter this season.
  • Giants agreed to terms with P Steve Weatherford, formerly of the Jets.
Weatherford will compete with second-year punter Matt Dodge, who sports a big leg and consistency issues. Weatherford tied an NFL record with 42 punts inside the 20-yard line last season, so he would afford coach Tom Coughlin fewer headaches than Dodge.
