Tepper

Tepper was promoted from the practice squad last Monday. He wasn’t active for Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs even though the Colts were missing LT Anthony Castonzo and RG Ryan Diem. He should be signed back to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

This is probably confirmation that LT Anthony Castonzo (ankle) will be out, and with starting RT Ryan Diem (ankle) questionable after missing practice this week the Colts line is a mess. Quinn Ojinnaka is the likely replacement if Diem can’t go, while Tepper will be used as a swing tackle for depth purposes. Curtis Painter and Co. have been playing under these circumstances for weeks now.

A sign that LG Joe Reitz (knee surgery) is finally ready to return. Signed in late October, Tepper had made the Colts’ past four starts at left guard. He’ll likely be signed back to the practice squad as long as he passes through waivers.

Hines was just claimed off waivers from the Rams, and has practice squad eligibility remaining. Tepper will back up Jeff Linkenbach at right tackle. A former Cal Bear, Tepper went undrafted two Aprils ago.

We’ll update you as we learn more, but losing Castonzo for any length of time would be a decent-sized blow to the Colts. Backup G/T Ben Ijalana left the game due to a knee injury, forcing first-year practice squad call-up Mike Tepper to play RT with Jeff Linkenbach kicking over to the blindside. With RG Ryan Diem (ankle) also out, the Colts’ line is a hot mess.

Tepper was signed this week, but Kansas City needed to make room following the acquisition of OG Rok Watkins. Tepper played in six games for the Colts in 2011 starting four at left guard.
