It does not appear that Aaron Guiel will play again this season.
His recovery from a second laser eye surgery this summer hasn’t progressed as quickly as the Royals or Guiel had hoped, and the left-handed hitting outfielder has yet to hit off a tee. The 32-year-old Guiel, will likely play in winter ball this offseason.

Although Aaron Guiel (laser eye surgery) will start hitting off a tee and participating in on-field exercises this week, his return to action is very much up in the air.
It does not appear to us that Guiel will play again this season. Of course, the Royals aren’t saying this. But it may be true in any case.

Aaron Guiel will likely get a significant amount of playing time for the balance of the season and should be in the lineup today against right-hander Freddy Garcia.
“He’s going to play...he’s a real good hitter when he’s healthy”, said manager Tony Pena about Guiel yesterday. Look for Guiel to play against all right-handed starters from here on in.

Aaron Guiel continues to work-out at the Royals’ spring training facility in Arizona.
Guiel is still trying to get full vision back in his left eye after specialized laser surgery, and there are no set plans made yet for his return to the Roayls. He should be back at some point before the All-Star break, assuming no setbacks.

There is no timetable for Aaron Guiel’s return.
Guiel is rehabbing in Arizona after laser eye surgery in Mid-May and has been able to take live batting practice every day. However, according to manager Tony Pena, “We don’t have a timetable for Aaron Guiel to begin a rehab assignment.” If the Royals don’t know when he will return, we cannot begin to guess either.

Aaron Guiel (blurred vision left eye) began a rehabilitation assignment in Arizona yesterday.
He was supposed to play seven innings. Guiel will likely need to play in the minors for at least a week before he is a candidate to be activated off the disabled list.

Aaron Guiel (corrective laser eye surgery) will continue rehabbing in Triple-A Omaha.
He was 8-for-17 with two homers in four rehab starts in the Arizona rookie league this past week. The Royals want Guiel to play four to five games at night to test his vision fully. Barring any setbacks, Guiel could be activated late next week.
