Blue Jays’ shorstop prospect Aaron Hill, a last-minute addition to the Futures Game, took home MVP honors with a two-run double.
This will boost Hill’s name recognition, but he’s not as big a prospect as many who played in the game. At Double-A New Hampshire he’s gone .264-6-45 with 43 runs scored and a 42/39 bb/k rate. His 19 errors indicate he has some work to do on defense. D’Backs outfield prospect Conor Jackson also had a double and a run scored as the US team beat the World team 4-3.

Aaron Hill homered off Tigers starter Sean Douglass in a 6-4 Blue Jays win tonight.
Hill’s batting average is all the way down to .295 after going 23-for-106 since the start of July. He’ll be an option for the Blue Jays next season, but with Shea Hillenbrand, Eric Hinske, and Corey Koskie around he’s going to sit for now against many right-handers.

Hill was playing shortstop at the time. Russ Adams replaced him.

According to the Blue Jays, Aaron Hill’s injury was just leg cramps. He’s day-to-day.
Good news. The Jays have Thursday off, so Hill probably won’t miss any additional time.

Aaron Hill is making his first start of the year at shortstop on Monday night.
Hill is batting eighth against the Red Sox. Edgardo Alfonzo is starting at second base and hitting ninth. The change could be permanent, depending on how Hill performs defensively.

The Blue Jays reportedly plan to move Aaron Hill from second base to shortstop at some point within the next month.
Hill will remain at second base for now while working out at shortstop. Toronto is rumored to be in the market for Adam Kennedy and recently signed Edgardo Alfonzo to a minor league deal, so they have other options at second base should Hill be moved.

Aaron Hill went 3-for-3 and hit his first homer of the season Wednesday in a loss to the Rays.
A pulse. Hill has been one of the very worst hitters in baseball this year, but he’s not really this bad, and since he is capable of making routine throws to first base, he’s a better bet than Russ Adams to keep his job when the Jays eventually upgrade their infield.
