Tigers SS/3B prospect Kevin McGonigle is at shortstop and leading off for the American League in Sunday night’s Fall Stars Game in Arizona.
McGonigle has been sizzling-hot in the desert recently, batting .462 (6-for-13) with three homers and seven RBI over his last three games. The 21-year-old prodigy is batting .385/.494/.754 with five round-trippers and three steals across 17 games this fall. He’ll enter next season as one of the top prospects in the fantasy landscape and should reach Detroit at some point soon. Here’s the full lineup: McGonigle (SS), Braden Montgomery (CF), Max Anderson (3B), Jonny Farmelo (LF), Blake Mitchell (C), Tommy White (1B), Sam Antonacci (2B), Raudi Rodriguez (DH), Enrique Bradfield Jr. (RF) and Luis De Leon (P).
  • KC Starting Pitcher #67
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal suggests that the Red Sox and Royals could be interested in a trade centered around Seth Lugo and Jarren Duran.
It’s unclear whether Rosenthal has heard anything specific from either team that this could be in the works or is just suggesting that the pieces fit. He does report that the Royals are looking for controllable outfield assets, and Duran certainly fits the bill there. The Red Sox are open to trading from their outfield depth, and would love to add a starting pitcher of Lugo‘s caliber. As Rosenthal notes, Lugo is likely to exercise his player option and become a free agent at the end of the year, so the Red Sox would likely want bullpen help or prospects in return as well, like catching prospects Blake Mitchell or Carter Jensen. It’s a trade that could thread the needle of the Red Sox helping their team in the immediate and also landing a talented hitter that fits the timeline of their young prospects.
