Athletics selected the contracts of RHP Braden Nett, RHP Chen Zhong-Ao Zhuang and OF Junior Perez from Triple-A Las Vegas.
No real surprises here for the Athletics. Nett came over from the Padres in the Mason Miller blockbuster back in July and figures to open next season on the doorstep of the big leagues with a chance to make his debut at some point later in the year.

Athletics acquired RHP Braden Nett, SS Leodalis De Vries, RHP Henry Báez, and RHP Eduarniel Nuñez from the Padres in exchange for RHP Mason Miller and LHP JP Sears.
While De Vries is the big name here, Nett is no slouch either. The 23-year-old was the 3rd-ranked prospect in the Padres’ system, according to MLB Pipeline, and has posted a 3.39 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 86/34 K/BB ratio in 74 1/3 innings at Double-A this season. He has a fastball that sits 96 mph and can run up to 99 mph with good carry at the top of the zone. He pairs that with an 82 mph tight slider and a 91 mph cutter, plus a curve and splitter that he will mix in as well. He has some command issues that have led to high WHIPs in the past, but he has a deep enough arsenal to profile as a big league starter.

Braden Nett pitched decently in Friday’s spring start against the Mariners, allowing one run on three hits over two innings.
The 22-year-old right-hander racked up three strikeouts on the evening while issuing one base on balls. All three of Nett’s punchouts came in succession in the first inning, mowing down Donovan Solano, Cal Raleigh and Mitch Haniger. The M’s scratched out a run against him in the second inning though on a two-out RBI single by Samad Taylor. Nett got six swings and misses on 37 pitches, registering a CSW of 35 percent. Nett is expected to start the season at Double-A San Antonio, but it’s not out of the question that he could debut with the Padres in the second half of the season if he pitches well there.
