Brandon Gomes will be limited at the start of spring training as he recovers from November surgery to clean up a disc in his back.
“Right now it’s progressing along great, I don’t really see anything to be concerned about,” said Gomes. “I might miss the very beginning of spring training, but that’s about it.” Gomes, 27, posted a 2.92 ERA and 32/16 K/BB ratio over 37 innings as a rookie last season. He’ll be in the mix for a bullpen spot on the Opening Day roster.
